Over the Crowd-singing of Pansori seeks to expand the boundaries of ‘Pansori chorus’, made of creative composition. The general concept of ‘creative composition’ is shared in the various forms of traditional art, but the background of such concept differs according to the individual. In this work, Park has a clear idea of composition and its meaning, and shows the process of creating a singing pansori with multiple Korean traditional singers. Keeping in mind the traditional musical style of pansori where the beauty of singing is maximized when sung by a single person, Park explores the possibilities of pansori as a chorus. Inhye Park is a composer who is fascinated with pansori more as a tool (means) of composition rather than as an art form that should be ‘passed down and preserved’. Her composition works traverse across various genres including solo pansori, Changgeuk (Korean classical opera), musical and drama, etc.
