Special Exhibition ‘Dali, Gala’
Yoonji Cho is a producer, playwright, director, and actor. Her work centers on exploring personal narratives with an emphasis on authenticity and emotional rawness. Cho’s artistic focus consistently revolves around the themes of “improvement” and “progress,” delving into the complexities of individual emotions, traumas, and relationships.
Special Exhibition ‘Dali, Gala’ blurs the lines between “exhibition” and “performance,” offering a captivating exploration of the extraordinary love story between Salvador Dalí and his muse, Gala. Their unconventional relationship, defying societal norms, serves as a mirror reflecting the desires and anxieties of individuals across time. Artist Yoonji Cho presents a unique perspective, portraying Dalí and Gala as “disagreeable” figures, intentionally challenging the audience’s expectations and resisting the temptation to present them under a moral, likeable cover. Through innovative spatial design and directorial choices, Cho allows the audience to actively engage with the story as they move freely within the theater, much like visitors exploring an art museum.
