Dongtae, Gutae, Haettae, Bugeo, Kkeoktae, Nogari, Meoktae… Pollock goes by various names depending on where it’s from, or how it’s caught or preserved. People, too, are called by different names according to their lifestyles.
Youngtae Kim also has many names: Boss Kim, Mr. Kim, Dr. Kim, Chauffeur Kim…
Youngtae not Pollock studies an individual called Youngtae Kim, whose name, much like pollock, changes in various sociocultural contexts. Using puns and music, the play satirizes the baby boomers, millennials, and members of Gen Z while addressing each generation’s problems.
Minju Kim is the CEO of Stage Horse and a creator who observes society through the eyes of the marginalized, referring to proverbs and animals as metaphors for social issues. Youngtae not Pollock is a story about the older generation, through which we come to understand generations that differ from our own.
