DAC Artist
Oct.25.2022 ~ Nov.12.2022Space111The DAC Artist ju Jin is a creator who seeks out voices hidden in the shadows of contemporary Korean society, and tells their stories. Her work captures contemporary social issues such as hierarchical violence, multiculturalism, marriage issues, and women’s issues through various incidents large and small. Her most recent work explores whether we can truly accept each other in the midst of conflicts based on age, gender, and individual value systems.
CLASS was first presented as a spoken performance at the DOOSAN ART LAB Theatre 2021, and has been expanded thereafter. The work tells the story of an established playwright and a student who meet in an art school’s playwriting class. The instructor, A, and the student, B, accidentally come to hold a one-on-one class. B displays both blind trust and antagonism toward A, creating an uncomfortable current between the two. When B’s plays are turned down every time, B brings in an unfinished story, and a heated argument between the two ensues.
