We’re Gonna Die is writtenand performed by Young-jean Lee, a noted young Korean-American playwright. Itreceived an Obie Award following its premiere in New York in 2011. Theplaywright sings and dances as herself on stage as in a one-woman cabaret show.As the title suggests, the show conveys the message that we are all mortal.Through her singing and dancing, she talks about painful and tragic things thatshe experienced in her life?loneliness, aging, illness, and death. Thesincerity contained in her performance, along with music played by rock bandFuture Wife, offers insight into the meaning of life.
